Introduction: Oligodendroglioma represents 10-15% of primary brain tumors. Surgery is the principal treatment, the role of postoperative irradiation remains controversial.

Purpose: Analysis of the results of post-operative radiotherapy of cerebral oligodendroglioma and identification of prognostic factors.

Material and methods: From 1975 to 20005, 40 adult patients with incompletely resected cerebral oligodendrogliomas were irradiated. A dose of 50-60 Gy was given in 25-30 fractions in 5-6 weeks.

Results: With a good tolerance to treatment five year NED survival was 65%. Multivariate analysis demonstrated tumor crossing midline and occipital tumor location to be statistically significant for unfavorable outcomes. The P values were respectively. 0,010 and 0,016.
